This is the 1st thing we did... rip the wallpaper off in the dining room. This took way longer than you might think! 
Luckily the kitchen wallpaper was much easier - it came off in large sections at a time.
After the wallpaper was off, we began priming all the woodwork. That blue tape costs 6 bucks a roll... we've probably gone through nearly 10 rolls already!
The postman stopped delivering our mail because he saw the newspaper over the windows and thought the place had been abandoned! 
The doors and crown moulding are painted down here in the basement.

I finally hacked into James' hotmail to find you, because he mentioned ages ago you had this blog going and he never got around to giving me the link... but anyway, I made my own way =)
(BTW, he's not ignoring your email, he's just awful with it, but he'll reply eventually!)
It's great that you've found somewhere to call home. The bones of it look really nice (as in, what's under the "lovely" wallpaper you got rid of).
Hope all is going well with everything in the US of A. It's no Scotland, but still... lol
Hope we can get out there to visit sometime, so far we're only scheduled to visit the east coast this summer and autumn, but you never know!
